I am so behind on Peyton's monthly posts. So sorry. But then again, most people that read these probably already know her latest feats!
Peyton was hit with double ear infections and a nasty cold the day before she turned 9 months old. Poor little baby! It was NO fun! She still attempted to play and be happy but you could just tell she did not feel good. She was pretty sluggish and just wanted to cuddle (this was a HUGE sign that she was not feeling well!). We went into the doctor to get some meds to get her better. Unfortunately, the first round did not work! And of course, this was over the weekend. (Sidenote: why do illnesses always come with full force on the weekends when your doctor is not "in"?!?!?!?!) So... back to the doctor we went on Monday. Oh, did I mention that I was pretty sick too? Lovely. So thankful to hubs for taking care of us as best he could. The first real illness your baby has can really be stressful... and much more when mommy isn't at her best either! Happy to say that Peyton is feeling much better!! (As for me, not so much. Ha.)
So because of her being sick, we had to postpone her 9 month well visit for 2 weeks. Here are her stats (9 1/2 months):
Weight: 21 lbs (75-90th percentile)
Height: 29 in (75-90th percentile)
Head Circumference: 46.1 cm (90-95th percentile)
In other words, she is growing wonderfully! Doctor was very pleased with her growth.
- As far as her mobility, she is just being a little stinker! So far nothing can get her to crawl towards you. We've tried toys, cellphones (ha!) and even her favorite... cheerios. None of which work. She can push herself backwards and go from sitting to stomach/knees and back to sitting. She likes to do that trick a lot. This is mainly how she gets around... lots of rolling and up and down. She will get up on her knees and rock back and forth. She looks soooo ready to crawl but is taking her time. She is also not pulling up on anything yet. She would rather just sit and look around. Ha.
- She loves to wave at EVERYTHING and EVERYONE. Well, except when you want her to. :) She waves at the trees, airplanes in the air, mommy's silver crosses on the wall, clocks on the wall, riley, daddy, oh and let's not forget lights and fans! She's a hoot. A funny story: The other day she was sitting up playing with a toy. She somehow lost her control over it and it rolled a bit away. Enough that she couldn't reach. So instead of going to get it. She just waved to it as if to say "I'll see you sometime soon" because going to get it would mean she would have to crawl FORWARD. Little stinker!!
- She has finally gotten a tooth and is working on her second one! This last one has been harder on her (and us).
- Since she really doesn't have any teeth to use to chew up food, her food is still pretty pureed. She is eating some more solids though. Some of her favorite "finger foods" include cheerios, puffs, pasta and cheese. Oh does she love her cheese!
- She still hasn't quite gotten the sippy cup. We have tried several different kinds and none are extremely successful yet. I wouldn't be so impatient with this skill but little girl won't take a bottle anymore. And since she won't drink consistently from a sippy cup, that means that I am her only source of milk. Read: I don't get a break. This has been a little hard to really get out and do things. Let's hope she figures that one out SOON!!
- I think she is a great blend of her daddy AND mommy. It is really funny when a friend of hubs sees her and says "she looks just like her daddy!" and then someone just a day later says "she looks just like her mommy!" :) I love how God can blend so well. And how a certain look she gives can look like one of us.
- She is definitely a spitfire but we love her so. She still gets SOOO excited when her daddy gets home from work. Forget that mommy is in the room!! He walks in and says "MUNCHKIN!!" and that super sweet smile gets as big as it can get!
- She loves to give kisses. And usually not just one. If mommy and daddy are both close, she will alternate giving kisses. We don't complain. :)
- Riley (aka "Riley Dog") is still her favorite. And Riley knows it. She will sit RIGHT next to Peyton in order to get to lick her hands and face. Oh and did I mention she loves to give kisses? Yep. Even Riley gets them... and Riley gives one in return (if we don't catch it in time). Yuck.
Sorry this post has been so long... I'm sure I could go on and on. (And her 10 month is just around the corner) Here are some pictures from the last couple of months.
